Suffering with diabetes is not a joke. The complication, symptoms and side effects are enough to depress a person for life. But you have to be strong in order to live happily. Now unlike any other social issue, where external help is not required, diabetes should not be taken lightly i.e. sometimes it’s better to get help from others because asking for help is not a bad thing. In fact, according to numerous researches, people who interact with others, who talk about their problems and have a buddy they can trust, seem to live longer and have a higher quality of life. If you’re suffering from diabetes, know that you’re not alone, and since you’re not alone, you can greatly benefit by asking for some help!

Describe Hypoglycaemia

Are you taking insulin? If yes then you might become hypoglycaemic. Sometimes you can tell from the symptoms, other times you might be unaware of this medical conditions. If you’re one who has become hypoglycaemic, explain and describe your symptoms to others who might not have thought about this medical condition. For example, if you know your signs and symptoms, and what you do to keep it under control, share that information with your family and friends so you don’t end up in situations that could have been avoided.

Regular Check-ups Are Important

Your doctor will tell you to have a blood sugar check-up every 3-6 months, but it is your responsibility to think about your body. Therefore get regular eye exams, urine tests, blood tests just to make sure you’re not developing anything under your nose that you might have not been aware of. Remember to also visit a foot doctor, because with diabetes, feet can be a little cranky! Don’t expect your doctor to remind you to care for your body – you must do the needful.

Exercise Buddies Are Great

You might start exercising all by yourself, but as time goes by, and if something comes up you’ll forget about exercising and keep postponing it until “later” – a period of time that never comes! If you have an exercise buddy you’ll naturally feel encouraged to regularly exercise for the benefit of your body. If you know someone’s waiting for you, you naturally want to be there, right? get an exercise buddy, you’ll thank me!

Ask Someone to Help You Fight Food Addiction Until You’re Strong

If you’ve been eating sweets and pretzels your whole life, diabetes can come as a nightmare because now you can no longer eat them or you might have to significantly limit them. If you have someone to keep an eye on your for a period of time, you’ll be able to fight temptation and food addiction so you don’t severely hurt yourself. Get a food partner, someone who’ll stop you from eating to death.

Educate Yourself About Your Condition

You might think you know it all and that you don’t need to know anything new, but that’s not true. The world of medicine is changing so rapidly that pills you take today might not be affective tomorrow, what next? How can you keep yourself healthy? What sorts of foods can you eat to naturally balance your sugar levels? Education is the key, the more you have the less you know!
