The butterfly-shaped thyroid gland is located in the neck just below the Adam’s apple. Its main responsibility is the amount of energy you have and the speed of your metabolism. It also encourages the genes that control the proper functioning of your cells.

What is hypothyroidism?

Hypothyroidism is a condition in which the thyroid gland secretes less hormones than it should be producing normally. It often happens that people suffer from hypothyroidism, without knowing what is going on. The worst part is that the cause is mostly not hiding in the thyroid gland itself, but rather in ones immune system.

Some experts claim that 90% of patients who were diagnosed with hypothyroidism, have Hashimoto’s autoimmune disease that causes the immune system to attack the thyroid tissue. In order to cure any thyroid disease or any autoimmune disease it is important to look for the real cause of the occurring imbalances as combating it with different drugs, can only make things worse.

Hypothyroidism manifestation

The most common symptoms and signs of hypothyroidism are:

fatigue, loss of energy and lethargy
heat intolerance
loss of appetite and body weight gain
sleepiness
dry skin and thinned hair
numbness of the skin (paresthesia)
muscle pain (myalgia) and joint pain (arthralgia)
constipation (constipation)
disruption of menstrual bleeding (oligo menorrhea)
mood swings and depressive behavior
low blood pressure (hypotension) and fast heart beat (tachycardia)
reflexes are unusually slow
Treat your problem with proper nutrition

The first step that you need to make towards the successful treatment of hypothyroidism is changing some eating habits.

Most people with hypothyroidism suffer from constant fatigue which often forces you to take higher doses of sugar and coffee during the day, which is not good for your health. Here are some changes that you should introduce:

Reduce sugar and coffee intake – try to lower it at first and eliminate completely afterwards
Increase protein intake – proteins carry the thyroid hormones to all the cells in your body, so make sure that every meal contains at least small amounts of proteins.
Eat healthy fats – cholesterol coming from the fat is a hormone processor
Eliminate gluten-the molecular composition of the thyroid gland is almost identical to gluten, so it can worsen the immune system attacks on the thyroid gland.
Check your bowel- 20 % of problems with the thyroid gland occur due to the lack of healthy bacteria in the gut, so you should take probiotics.

A friend of mine referrred us to Dr. Shasta.  Before seeing her, we worked with infertility specialist for ovr a year and they were unable to find the problem.  Infertility treatments imbalanced my hormones and worsen my health.  Dr. Shasta worked with me using acupuncture to cleanse my body to balance my hormones.  I followed her dietary [lan and supplements to nourish my body.  After receiving her acupuncture services for four months, we are expecting our first baby.  Dr. Shasta is very knowledgeable, cordial, compassionate and always willing to go the extra mile to provide excellent care to her patients.  We cannot thank Dr. Shasta enough for her professional services. -Kiran K.
